Match preview
On Sunday 17 January 2027, St George's Park stages Sunrisers Eastern Cape against Pretoria Capitals in match 1. This is the season opener, a rematch of the 2026 final, and it is the first of Sunrisers Eastern Cape's five home league games and the first of Pretoria Capitals's five away league games. The league starts here, so neither side has a result yet and the points table is still blank.
St George's Park in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, hosts 5 SA20 games in Season 5, including this one. It is the home ground of Sunrisers Eastern Cape, who play their five home league games here. The published capacity is 19,000. Ground facts on this site are published figures only, and the capacity figure carries a note that SA20 has not reconfirmed it for 2027, so it is shown as published rather than as a current official figure.
These two sides meet again in match 10 on 26 Jan 2027 at SuperSport Park. That return game has the home side switched, so each side gets one home game in this pairing. It is the only SA20 game on Sunday, so the evening belongs to this fixture alone.
The stored start is 15:30 SAST. That is 18:30 in Pakistan, 19:00 in India and 13:30 in the UK, all on the same day. Readers in Pakistan and India get an evening game, while readers in the UK get an afternoon start. The timings page lists every match in all four zones, and this page shows only this game's four clocks so the conversion is easy to check.
The points table updates from completed results only, so nothing here counts until the game is played. The results page will carry the score and the margin afterwards. Broadcast partners for Season 5 were not confirmed when this preview was written, so no channel is named here. The streaming page will name the official broadcaster for each country once it is confirmed.
